The big one — 4K

4K on every device — locked, not auto

"Auto" quality picks based on a speed test, not your TV. It will quietly downscale a 4K movie to 1080p mid-show. These steps force each app and each device to play at 4K.

Before you start

Set each device's display output to 4K first (TV, box or stick), then set the app's playback quality to 4K / max. If either one is on auto, you won't get 4K. Also turn subtitles off for 4K — burned-in or PGS subs can force a transcode and drop quality.
